or you know that it is not with pereshable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. (1 Peter 1:18,19)

A slave was "redeemed" when someone paid money to buy his or her freedom. God redeemed us from the grip of sin, not with money, but with the precious blood of his own Son. We cannot escape from sin on our own; only the life of God's Son can free us.

He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. (1 Peter 1:20)

Jesus' sacrifice for our sins was not an afterthought, not something God decided to do when the world spun out of control. This plan was set in motion by the all-knowing, eternal God long before the world was created. What a comfort it must have been to Jewish believers to know that Christ's coming and his work of salvation were planned by God long before the world began. This assured them that the law was not being scrapped because it didn't work, but that both the law and the coming of Christ were part of God's eternal plan.

Jesus is on the verge of returning to earth and taking his people home. But it is not all about Jesus' return, it is also about living for Jesus now. And living for Jesus is fantastic (check out the testemony page). Sometimes being a Christian can be tough, but Jesus never promised an easier life, but he did promise a better one.

Dear God

It is writen in Your Word that if I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in my heart that You have raised Him from the dead, I shall be saved. Therefore, Father, I confess that Jesus is Lord of my life right now. I believe in my heart that you raised Jesus from the dead. I renounce my past life with Satan and close the door to any of his devices.

I thank you for forgiving me of all my sin. Jesus is my Lord, and I am a new creation. Old things have passed away. Now all things become new in Jesus name. Amen
